Jones Hires Celebrity Attorney To Battle Brawl Charges

From: Imdb.com

Soccer star-turned-actor Vinnie Jones has a heavyweight legal team in his corner to fight assault charges - he has hired the same lawyer who defended Mel Gibson and Lindsay Lohan.

The Mean Machine star is due in court on Tuesday after he was involved in a scuffle at a bar in Sioux Falls, South Dakota earlier this month.

And he hopes celebrity attorney Blair Berk - who successfully represented Gibson and Lohan when they were hit with driving under the influence charges - will help clear him over the brawl.

The Hollywood hardman was pictured on CCTV apparently attacking Juan Barrera when a boozy night erupted in violence. Barrera's pal Jesse Bickett was held by cops but released without charge.

Jones, who insists he was the victim, needed 48 stitches to his face after he was struck with a beer glass.

‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ Movie Spawns New ‘Wolverine’ & ‘Weapon X’ Comics

From: MTV.com

There’s a lot to like about the upcoming debut of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” in theaters (including the ridiculously cool “Wolverine” movie trailer), but one of the best things about the recent surge of comics-based films is the fact that their new, live-action stories tend to prompt new, print-medium stories, too.

This time around, everyone’s favorite Canucklehead will get the spotlight as the May 1 release of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” approaches. And much like they did with the debut of Matt Fraction’s “Invincible Iron Man” series timed to the release of the “Iron Man” movie, Marvel Comics recently announced a pair of new titles featuring Wolverine that will hit shelves a month before the film hits theaters.

After the jump, you can read more about the new Wolverine titles and get a peek at the covers for each project.

First up will be a new, ongoing series titled “Wolverine: Weapon X” written by Jason Aaron (”Ghost Rider”) with art by Ron Garney (”Amazing Spider-Man”). According to Marvel, the series will explore Logan’s ties to the mysterious Weapon X program introduced in the “X-Men 2″ movie and explored further in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” “Wolverine: Weapon X” will kick off in April 2009.

Hugh Jackman: X appeal

From: Telegraph.co.uk

If playing a gay entertainer on Broadway led Hollywood to question Jackman’s leading man credentials, his performance as a red-blooded cowboy in Australia has settled the argument.

Hugh Jackman’s face breaks into a wide grin when he sees the tray of sushi I have brought him. Diet features large in this Australian actor’s life. When he was in training to play the mutant action hero Wolverine in the X-Men films he was waking at 4am for his first meal and eating every three hours. 'This is a good way to my heart,’ he says. 'What you eat is everything. I always thought it was about lifting harder, heavier, longer. Now I think you have to eat more and eat leaner.’

We meet on a warm breezy day at his film production company, Seed Productions, based at Fox Studios in Sydney. He is svelte in a black Louis Vuitton shirt and jeans, his tanned face obscured by sunglasses. His thick nut-brown hair is slicked back, emphasising those chiselled features and well-groomed stubble.

Rather than sit inside to talk about his new film, he motions to a grubby table and chair on the grass opposite. In Hollywood Jackman’s reputation as the Mr Nice Guy precedes him. Rachel Weisz went so far as to describe Jackman, whom she starred opposite in The Fountain, as 'a sort of male sex God. He’s so beautiful and such a perfect gentleman at the same time.’

He has lost 9lb training for his starring role in Baz Luhrmann’s new film, Australia, as 'the drover’ – a lasso-slinging whip-cracking cowboy – and he only picks at the sashimi: he doesn’t do carbs after midday. Down-to-earth, with no trace of self-importance, Jackman is an intriguing combination of laidback Aussie charm and flashes of English thespian (his parents are English). He speaks fast in a sunny drawl, quotes Shakespeare and tends to ruminate philosophically on the nature of the self.

Jackman’s career is singular for its versatility. Now 40, he began in musical theatre – leading roles in Beauty and the Beast and Sunset Boulevard in Australia led to a year in London, where he first came to the attention of the British public playing Curly in Trevor Nunn’s Oklahoma! in 1998, for which he was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award. Six years later he won a Tony Award for his portrayal of the gay Australian entertainer Peter Allen, in the Broadway musical The Boy from Oz, which would lead to three years hosting the glitzy Tony Awards at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Re-Shooting in January

From: ReelzChannel.com

According to industry mag Production Weekly, there will be re-shoots for the Wolverine movie next January 12th in Vancouver, Canada.

Obviously, this is to put some polish and shine on 20th Century Fox's biggest superhero movie of 2009, but based on the trailer it's looking pretty polished already. If X-fans flock to see the final cut as rabidly as they have been for the aforementioned trailer, it's likely to be a hit, and will pave the way for other single-character spin-offs who are pinning their hopes on the success of Wolverine.

Liev Schreiber was first asked to play Stryker in Wolverine

From: FilmIconic.com

Most of us have seen the recent trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine (if not click here) and we got out first glimpse at Gambit, Stryker, Emma Frost, and Sabretooth in action. Well things could have been a little different according to Liev Schreiber who plays Wolverine’s half brother and rival in the film.

“I read the comics before I got offered the part,” says the 41-year-old. “I mean, I knew the character really well. Initially I’d been asked to play Stryker and I said, ‘Is there any chance that I might be able to play this Victor Creed guy?’” he recalls.

While that would have been interesting, from the trailer it is clear Danny Huston was a better casting choice for William Stryker. Liev continues:

“Victor Creed is Sabertooth, and I just want everyone to know that my character has a name,” he says smiling. “He’s a person too.”

“…rather than just say that Sabertooth’s a violent brute, I wanted to find out what makes the brute tick,” he says. “Hopefully people will like it.”

Why Hugh Jackman is a perfect choice as Oscars host

From: The Envelope
"Gold Derby by Tom O'Neil"

Yikes, I'm late piping in about the crowning of Hugh Jackman as Oscars host. My response: Huzzah!

What makes the choice of Hugh Jackman such a royal treat is that he's teamed up with another reigning showman, producer Bill Condon, who adapted best picture "Chicago" to the screen from Broadway, directed the spectacular, but Oscars-gypped "Dreamgirls" (Bill will get his delicious revenge by saving the Oscarcast next February — ha!) and won a chunk of academy gold for writing the screenplay to "Gods and Monsters."

Finally, academy chiefs have put the ceremony back in the hands of folks who really know how to dazzle and wow on screen and stage. Let's hope the academy never again wastes our time by hauling in another rent-a-clown from New York who doesn't know the movie biz. Why have the Oscars recently thought Hollywood's holy of holies was a stand-up comedy riff? Just because some past, great Oscar hosts knew how to tell jokes? The greatest — Bob Hope, Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Whoopi Goldberg — were either movie insiders with a big heart and mischievous wink or else at least Hollywood royals (Johnny Carson). That's the secret recipe. There's good reason that David Letterman, Chris Rock and Jon Stewart flopped. Those New York jokers are aces at what they do, sure, but they were miscast presiding over Hollywood's family reunion.

Bill Condon and Hugh Jackman are perfectly cast. Bill's a crazed Oscar nut like you and me. He can tell you which film won the most Oscars without taking the best picture prize ("Cabaret" with eight) and where poor Judy Garland ("A Star Is Born") was when she got robbed by Grace Kelly ("The Country Girl") in the best actress shockeroo of 1954. (Judy was in the hospital having her son Joey — but, of course, you knew that too.) Bill knows the ceremonies intimately too: what worked (Billy Crystal's wacky film montages, Liza Minnelli crooning that socko Oscarcast intro) and what didn't (Rob Lowe warbling "Proud Mary" with Snow White).

Whatever Bill and his producing partner Laurence Mark plus brilliantly bonkers writers like Bruce Vilanch cook up, Jackman will know how to sell it with gusto on stage. That's what the "Sexiest Man Alive" knows how to do best.

Jackman hosted the Tony Awards in 2003, 2004 and 2005, garnering bravura reviews. He won an Emmy in 2005 for hosting the 2004 Tonycast. He was nominated again in 2006 for emceeing the 2005 Tonys show, but, alas, lost the prize for best individual performance in a variety, musical or comedy program to Barry Manilow. (Doesn't everyone? Right, Stephen Colbert?)

In the opening number of the 2004 Tonycast, Jackman no doubt got Condon and Mark's attention when he sang a special version of "One Night Only" from the 1982 Tony-nominated musical "Dreamgirls" — Ha!

Halle Berry goes slightly topless in her next movie

From: FilmIconic.com

We saw a shot of a young Storm in the recent X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer, and now the actress who played the grown up Storm in the X-trilogy has been snapped on the set of her next movie. In Frankie and Alice Halle Berry plays a young woman with multiple personality disorder who struggles to remain her true self and not give in to her racist alter-personality. Halle does in fact play both Frankie and Alice. From the looks of things Halle plays a hooker, although the movie is set in the 70’s so I’m not 100% sure.

You can see some the images of Halle by clicking here.

Four New 'G.I. Joe' Posters Ready for Battle

From: GetTheBigPicture.net

What was it we said yesterday about movie posters...oh yes, "We've seen character posters ad nuaseum over the past few years." And so we have. And aparently, that trend is going to continue.

Take a look at the four new character posters from G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which popped up at Filmz.ru last night. I guess they're pretty cool. I love the casting of Sienna Miller as the Baroness, and of course, Ray Park as Snake Eyes is a good move. But I still want to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander.

Sir Ian McKellen Thinks Britain Will Have A Gay Prime Minister

From: iCelebz.com

Sir Ian McKellen thinks Britain will one day have a gay Prime Minister. The openly homosexual actor believes it is only a matter of time before Britain has a leader who does not hide his sexuality, because the number of gay politicians is constantly growing.

He told Seven magazine: "I think openly gay politicians are the standard, rather than not, in all parties these days. Eventually it's very likely that one of them will become a leader. We've already had one or two gay Prime Ministers."

Sir Edward Heath, who was a Conservative party Prime Minister from 1970 to 1974, has been the subject of rumors about his sexuality with some reports claiming he was told to stop cruising for gay sex in the 50s, many years before he became leader.

McKellen, 69, was delighted when the new U.S. President, Barack Obama, mentioned gay voters in his victory speech.

The "Lord of the Rings" star added: "I know a lot of gay people were touched when Obama mentioned them in his acceptance speech, and he probably will in his inauguration as well. That is a big symbolic change. Those who don't like it will just have to lump it."

However, he is disappointed that Proposition 8 - a constitutional amendment which outlaws same-sex marriage - was passed in California, because it is a huge step back for gay rights.

McKellen said: "I think if the President-Elect had made it clear he did not approve of Proposition 8, perhaps things might have gone differently. But the tide comes in and the tide goes out, and then it comes in a bit further, and that's how it works."

David Goyer Says Fox Cautious on Green Lighting 'Magneto'

From: ComicM!x
Written by: Robert Greenberger

Story set in 1961

Despite previous comments from producer Lauren Shuler Donner that she’s eager to get started on X-Men Origins: Magneto, writer/director David S. Goyer is taking a more cautious approach. He told Collider that 20th Century-Fox was likely to await the box office results from X-Men Origins: Wolverine which doesn’t open until next May. As a result, the movie could not possibly shoot until fall 2009.

He did say that the story would be set in 1961 and “shows Professor X (Charles) and Magneto (Eric) as best friends and they team up against another person in the movie.”

His next project is an original horror film, The Unborn, opening next month. His next project is an original thriller, The Invisible Woman. He will also produce and direct the pilot for ABC’s Flash Forward based on Robert J. Sawyer’s novel.

'Magneto' Movie Depends on 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' Success

From: AceShowbiz.com

'Magneto' director David S. Goyer reveals that 'X-Men' spin-off movie about Eric Lehnsherr is put on hold to see what will happen with 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'.

Though updated reports earlier claimed that "" is still in the work, director David S. Goyer revealed the contrary. Talking to Superhero Hype! on Thursday, December 11, the filmmaker fessed up that the spin-off of the "X-Men" series has been put on hold as for the moment since the studio want to firstly see how "" does.

Hinting that the script has been finished, the co-writer of "" said of the matter, "I think they like the script and they're just waiting to see what happens with 'Wolverine'." He further explained, "I don't think they would consider moving forward until the movie comes out."

Directed and penned by David S. Goyer, "Magneto" is said to chronicle the story of a young Magneto who seeks revenge on the Nazis who killed his family while befriending a young Charles Xavier. It is yet to have any actors attached to the project. Apart from "Magneto", another 20th Century Fox's "X-Men Origin" movie, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", is on its way to the big screen. It will be released in U.S. theaters on May 1, 2009.

Have You Seen The Wolverine Trailer? What Do You Think?

From: ScreenRant.com

I just thought I’d put up a post to discuss the Wolverine trailer for those who might have subjected themselves to The Day the Earth Stood Still this weekend despite my warning.

My buddy over at Movies Online has alerted me to the fact that the trailer will be released online on Monday, December 15th on (ugh) Myspace.

As soon as it’s released we’ll post it up right here for you, so if you can wait a couple of days you won’t have to sit through this weekend’s terrible remake.

I’ve seen the X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer and I’m very curious to hear what you think about it. I was excited to see it come up, and believe me, I really want to like this movie and for it to be great. The thing is, I found the trailer to be kind of disjointed. It showed a bunch of scenes that give you brief glimpses of many mutants: Gambit, Deadpool, the Blob, Emma Frost and more Sabretooth than the others. There’s also tons of action including one scene that while dramatic, seemed kind of crazy in hindsight - with Wolverine leaping from a vehicle on the ground up towards a helicopter… pretty much “leaping tall buildings.”

The trailer was all over the place and it was hard to figure out what exactly the overall plot of the film will be from it - lots of stuff but it didn’t really form a cohesive whole.

This may seem like overthinking a bloody trailer, but when we bring it to you on Monday you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Anyway, if you HAVE seen it, what did you think?

Hugh Jackman to host new-look Oscars

From: YahooNews
Written by: Sandy Cohen.

LOS ANGELES – Hugh Jackman will host the 81st annual Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed Friday.

The 40-year-old Australian actor, recently named People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive," won an Emmy in 2005 for hosting the 59th annual Tony Awards in 2004. He was also nominated as host of the 2005 Tonys.

Jackman, who first claimed fame as Wolverine in the "X-Men" movie franchise, recently starred in Baz Luhrmann's romantic adventure film "Australia" with Nicole Kidman. He was out of the country Friday for a world promotional tour for the film and was not immediately available for comment, his representative Alan Nierob said.

He's never been an Oscar nominee, but was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in 2001's romantic film "Kate & Leopold." His other movie credits include 2006's "The Prestige" and 2004's "Van Helsing."

With new producers, a new set director and even a new music director, the Academy has been hinting at an all new look and feel for this year's Oscars telecast on Feb. 22.

Jackman's selection is a departure from the Academy's standard of big-name comedians. Jon Stewart, host of "The Daily Show," hosted the ceremony in 2008 and 2006; Ellen DeGeneres was the 2007 host. Chris Rock, Steve Martin, Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg have also hosted the show in recent years.

Hugh Jackman Spills Bits of 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' Trailer

From: AceShowbiz.com

Talking about the trailer of 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', Hugh Jackman addressed on a scene he is so excited about.

One of the scenes to be seen in the trailer of "" will apparently involve Wolverine coming out from water in slow motion. Sharing what he knows to Total Film, hints on the particular scene when talking about his expectation of fans reaction towards the trailer of this highly anticipated action movie.

"There's a shot in the trailer that I had in my head...It comes out on 12 December," the 40-year-old actor says. "There's a shot I had in my head of the character coming out of the water from a tank." He then continues, "While I was shooting I was screaming at the top of my voice, 'Raaaahhhhh!' That's what I had in my head how people would see it. There's a shot in my head and you'll see me coming out in slow motion and you see veins and all that and there's no CGI."

Beside discussing about the trailer, Jackman also makes time to address another character in the film, Gambit. "Gambit is in the film. When we showed footage at Comic-Con the place just went mental. He's played by Taylor Kitsch who does a great, great job. He's a little more showy than Wolverine, but there's a similarity. They're outsiders, they're wise-cracking, they're anti-authority," he explains.

The "" actor in addition states, "In this movie Gambit plays the role a little bit like Wolverine did in the first X-Men. He's not part of any group, he's not on anybody's side. Wolverine gets him because he needs the information off him, but Gambit's not going to give it - not without a fight. And they get a fight, the two of them get a fight." More on what Jackman has said on "Wolverine" can be read at Total Film.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is a prequel to the "X-Men" trilogy. Developed under the direction of "" helmer Gavin Hood, it sees Liev Schreiber and taking the roles of Sabretooth and Deadpool respectively. It will be opened in U.S. theaters on May 1, 2009, while its trailer has been confirmed earlier to be outed attached to "", which will hit U.S. theaters on December 12.

David S. Goyer Goes Invisible Next

From: Cinemablend.com
Written by: Katey Rich

We all know Fox is putting a whole lot of faith in the upcoming Wolverine: Origins, and Hugh Jackman is running around talking about how he'd like to play Wolvy forever and ever. But apparently the studio is being a little more cautious before they greenlight any more stories about the X-Men, waiting first to see how Jackman and his sideburns.

That's why David S. Goyer, who wrote a script about Magneto's early days, won't be working on that one next. Instead, he told Collider, he'll be taking on his sequel to the H.G. Wells classic The Invisible Man. No, it has nothing to do with his widely hated ghost movie The Invisible. It picks up where the first one left off, following the original main character's nephew as he perfects the powers of invisibility and gets unwanted attention from Scotland Yard in the process.

Check out this clip from their interview with Goyer below, including some details about his plans for Magneto's story.

Reeves: 'I wanted to play Wolverine'

From: DigitalSpy.co.uk
Written by: Michael Thornton

Keanu Reeves has revealed that he would love to have taken on the role of comic book character Wolverine.

The actor, who played Vertigo Comics' hero Constantine in a movie adaptation, admitted that he was jealous when the part of the X-Men character went to Hugh Jackman.

"I had a little actor envy when Hugh Jackman got to play Wolverine and I didn't. The claws are cool and I liked his fortitude and honour," he told Metro.

Reeves also revealed that he has been a fan of superhero stories throughout his life, saying: "As a kid I loved comic books. I started at summer camp reading Richie Rich and Archie.

"Later I got into [writer] Frank Miller and loved The Dark Knight Returns and Alan Moore's Watchmen. Then I became interested in Japanese anime."

Jones Charged Over Bar Brawl

From: Imdb.com

Actor Vinnie Jones has been charged with three counts of assault, following a bloody bar brawl in South Dakota that left him with 48 stitches in his face.

Swordfish star Jones claims he was the victim of the fight last week (beg01Dec08), alleging a man smashed him in the face with a beer mug in an unprovoked attack.

But he was later captured on CCTV punching Juan Barrera - who he claims was an accomplice of his alleged attacker, Jesse Bickett.

The footage prompted authorities charge Jones with three counts of simple assault.

Bickett has been freed without charge, claiming his tussle with Jones was "mutual combat".

We took some creative licences with Deadpool...

Jackman spills exclusive Wolverine secrets to totalfilm.com

Hugh Jackman has exclusively told totalfilm.com how the creative minds behind X-men Origins: Wolverine have taken creative licences with the iconic character of Deadpool. But he insists that fans will understand why they did it.

“The things I’m thinking about now I don’t want to tell you because the fans will go, ‘Awwww, that’s cool!’ Jackman told us.

“Actually, some fans might be pissed off but that’s okay. I think they’ll understand why we did it. We took some creative licenses with him."

Gambit a little bit like Wolverine

Jackman also talked about the role of Gambit, highlighting similarities between the character and his own portrayal of Wolverine in the first X-men movie.

“He’s not part of any group, he’s not on anybody’s side,” he said. “Wolverine gets him because he needs the information off him, but Gambit’s not going to give it – not without a fight.

“And they get a fight, the two of them get a fight. I’m really, really happy with the dynamic between the two.”

INTERVIEW: Liev Schreiber Talks about Wolverine Footage and MORE

From: ScreenCrave.com

This weekend, ScreenCrave sat down with Liev Schreiber to talk about his upcoming role in Defiance, (full interview to come) and was lucky enough to grab some info about his role as Sabertooth in the upcoming Hugh Jackman movie, Wolverine.

Liev knew that even though some fans were reluctant about him playing Sabertooth, he was confident that he could stand toe to toe with Jackman. Below he talks about his research, reading the comics, taking on the role, and even some new footage that he’s seen. Check it out…

Do you find it fun being an action guy?

Yeah! What’s the fun? Haven’t you ever played cops and robbers or cowboys and Indians? I don’t think men really grow pass 22 intellectually. Physically we just get older and we’re less capable of doing the things you want to do, but you never stop wanting to do them.

How much fun was Wolverine for you?

Insanely fun. I felt very self conscious originally because I knew the fans didn’t like the idea of me playing Sabertooth?

Really?

I think I’m perceived as a kind of urbane, New Yorker. Maybe I’ve done too many movies with Jewish characters or something. They’re like “It’s like Woody Allen playing Sabertooh.” And I’m like no actually it’s not. I’m 6′3” I’m bigger than Hugh Jackman, I can do this.

Could you take him?

I could take him yeah. No I really can! In fact I do! But the reality is, since I’ve known him and I’ve known him a long time, Hugh has become this colossal man. He’s huge! Just muscles everywhere and I have to play this guy who whoops his ass. So, as soon as I finished Defiance, I began this kind of four month training period of weight lifting, this kind of genocide of chickens phase of my life where I just got bigger and bigger and bigger and it was awful, but amazing and fun. Then when I finally got there and got to choreograph the fights with Hugh and get on the wire and do the work, it’s not just that it was fun, I saw some of the footage, and it’s pretty cool.

You’re listed as two different characters in the film Victor Creed and Sabertooth what is that about?

[Evil Laugh] Victor Creed is Sabertooth. I just wanted everyone to know I got a name.

Did you read the comics?

Oh I read the comics before I got offered the part. I knew the character really well. Initially I had been asked to play Striker, and I asked, “do you think there is any way I could play this Victor Creed guy?”

The research that I did, Victor’s particular mutant issue, has nothing to do with his name “Sabertooth” but that’s where I decided to start. What is Sabertooth. How do they move? What are their behavioral characteristics? And I knew this stuff from the comic. I knew that he was a completely savage street fighter and that, that was his MO. But, what I hadn’t seen in some of the earlier films that I was interested in trying to pursue. Is what drives the guy, and instead of saying this guy is just a violent brute, what is the cocktail that makes the brute tick. Hopefully people will like it.

Wolverine videogame

From: JoBlo.com
Written By: Dave Davis

If you're amped for next summer's WOLVERINE solo flick (oh, sorry -- X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE), keep your Xbox 360 or PS3 ready and waiting -- you'll get the chance to carve your foes and heal gaping battle wounds yourself.

Activision and developer Raven (the team behind past games X-MEN LEGENDS and MARVEL: ULTIMATE ALLIANCE) are hard at work on the digital Logan likeness and his lethal mutantness. The game is set for release in May 2009 to coincide with the movie's release. Maybe they'll also find a way to work Mystique in the game somewhere, to satiate my blue-chick fetish.

Details, per press release: "We have an amazing team with Raven Studios at the helm, creating what will undoubtedly be the quintessential, true-to-character Wolverine video game experience that fans have been craving," said Rob Kostich, vice president, global brand management, Activision Publishing, Inc. "X-Men Origins: Wolverine amps up the action by bringing to life Wolverine's wholly unique skills such as his brute strength, regenerative mutant abilities, and indestructible adamantium claws and skeleton in an immersive experience that is fitting to one of the most enduring and popular characters of all time."

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is an epic action-adventure featuring a true-to-character Wolverine gameplay experience that takes gamers through and beyond the movie's storyline. Set in a variety of vivid real-world locales, the title challenges players to hone their animal instinct as they uncover hidden dangers, hunt and destroy enemies, and take on seemingly insurmountable situations while discovering the truth about Wolverine's tragic past. With razor-sharp adamantium claws unsheathed, the future X-Man enacts lightning-quick combat, evasive maneuvers, in-depth combo attacks, and an array of brutal finishing moves. Wolverine doesn't just deliver massive damage, either -- he also takes it, thanks to his mutant regenerative power that heals him in real time right before the player's eyes.

Marvel Animation and Singapore-based Toonz Entertainment Pte Ltd have given an early green light to a second season of Wolverine and the X-Men. The series debuts on Nickelodeon in January and other markets around the world in the next few months.

P. Jayakumar, Toonz Group’s CEO commented in a release, “We are thrilled to extend our relationship with Marvel and continue showcasing one of the most sought-after, iconic characters of all time. This second season will bring fans even more fresh and exciting stories and take us even deeper into the X-Men universe.”

Eric Rollman, Marvel’s President of Animation added, “The response to this series has been outstanding and the decision to move forward immediately with a second season was simple. We are bringing together the same team who produced the first season and looking forward to continuing the success with all new episodes.”

Canadian network YTV confirmed that Wolverine And The X-Men will be pre-empted for the entire month of December due to special holiday programming. Wolverine and The X-Men will return to the network in January 2009 with new episodes.

Liev Schreiber talks Sabretooth.

From: FilmIconic.com

Liev Schreiber says Sabretooth is the most brutal character he has ever played.

While promoting war drama Defiance, Liev Schreiber spoke to Scifi.com about his role as Sabretooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

“I found it to be really intense,” Schreiber said in a group interview on Dec. 7 in Beverly Hills, Calif., where he was promoting Defiance. “The character I play is incredibly brutal and feral and has a bloodlust unlike any other character I’ve ever played. This guy is a real killer.”

“Just to do [a] fight scene with Hugh was really terrific because as a dancer, he has that kind of discipline and choreography,” Schreiber said. “I always studied to be a fight choreographer and wanted to be a dancer, too, but didn’t quite have the feet for it. We have some remarkable fight scenes together, and I’m looking forward to people seeing those.”

As a fan of the comic books, Schreiber vouched for the upcoming film’s interpretation. “I was a fan of the comic books,” he said. “I just loved the character of Wolverine. I always have. That sort of deeply ironic and very urban sensibility on a superhero was something that I thought was really groundbreaking, the style of writing, particularly the very sort of editorial style. I just always loved it, and I think that we were able to capture some of that darkness in this movie, so I’m very proud.”

We should be seeing some new footage of Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth when the X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer arrives on Friday.

Jones Defends Bar Brawl

From: Imdb.com

Hollywood tough guy Vinnie Jones is adamant he only fought in a recent bar brawl to defend himself after an attacker tried to blind him with glass.

The soccer star-turned-actor was arrested and booked for misdemeanour simple assault last week after finding himself at the centre of a fight at Wiley's Tavern in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The star was so badly hurt in the showdown he had to be admitted to hospital, where he needed 48 stitches across his nose and face.

And Jones insists he was stunned by the unprovoked attack - because it happened while he was taking pictures with fans.

He says, "I was in South Dakota with a crowd of mates for a pheasant shoot. We stopped off for a few beers and didn.t think anything of it. I arrived at the boozer (bar) and was signing autographs and doing pictures.

"We were having a laugh with a group of lads at the pool table, whose girlfriends I was doing pictures for. They started having a joke about my films. The next thing I knew I was on the ground with a glass in my face.

"It was over in seconds. The blood was pouring out. The attack came from nowhere. I was stunned by it. All the way through it, someone was shouting, .Knife!'"

In the bar's CCTV footage, a bloodied Jones can be seen heading to the restroom when he confronts fellow patron Juan Barrera, 24, in a corridor and begins punching him. Barrera then attempts to pick Jones up and throw him.

But the British star has accused Barrera and his friends of instigating the incident, and defended his own actions by declaring: "The fact is: Someone tried to blind me. Would you not be p**sed off if someone tried to blind you for life?"

Cumming Will Miss Movie Premiere To Watch Obama Sworn In

From: Imdb.Com

Gay actor Alan Cumming will miss the chance to unveil his latest movie at January's Sundance Film Festival, so he can attend 'gay-friendly' Barack Obama's inauguration as U.S. President.

The week-long Utah movie bash next month - where his film Dare will premiere - clashes with Obama's swearing in, which will take place in Washington, D.C. on 20 January.

And Cumming had no hesitation choosing where he will be, despite the fact he's not an American citizen and couldn't vote in the presidential election.

He tells the New York Post, "(Obama is) someone who I believe will make America a place where gay people will be respected and given true equality."

Kelsey Grammer Wants to Live Forever, Learn How to Fly

From: GetTheBigPicture.net

It didn't dawn on me while watching his recent Dr. Pepper commercial, but after this bit of new I have to wonder: Did Kelsey Grammer not take care of his money? I mean, playing Frasier Crane on Cheers made him a wealthy man, but playing that character for another dozen years or whatever it was on Frasier made him obscenely rich. So why in the name of David Hyde-Pierce is he joining the cast of the Fame remake?

Grammer will join Megan Mullally, Charles S. Dutton, Bebe Neuwirth, and Debbie Allen in the cast, and of course, Neuwirth spent 20 years popping up as Frasier's bitter half, Lilith. They'll all play teachers and school administrators in the remake, which has already begun filming and will be released on September 25th, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Said MGM's Mary Parent in carefully chosen words that were likely first strung together by someone in the studio's marketing department, "This picture is a celebration, a testament to people pursuing their dreams, so we set out to find talented actors who could both convincingly instruct onscreen and also inspire audiences."

Now, as such things go, all five of those actors have plenty of training for the stage, with some Julliard, Yale, and American School of Ballet thrown in among a couple of Tony Awards, so it's actually good casting when you think about it.

Remakes are a pretty hot topic, and it seems like whenever we talk about one, the common response is that there's no originality in Hollywood. That's patently untrue. But originality doesn't always sell, and if you want original so badly, stop giving half a billion dollars to Batman movies. I don't care one way or the other about a Fame remake. The original film was neither too good nor too bad for a remake. It's completely harmless. Even if they made an "original" movie about the same thing, it would basically be Fame anyway, so what's the difference?

Still, you'd think Grammer would be content just sitting on the beach in Maui.

Knight Rider Ends Season Early

From: Imdb.com

TV bosses have sparked reports that the update of hit 1980s show Knight Rider is on the verge of cancellation - after ending the series mid-season.

The show, which originally starred David Hasselhoff, did not feature the actor in its new version - despite his claims he came up with the idea of the show's TV comeback.

In a mid-season announcement, the cast and crew of the NBC show were informed the season finale will air on 25 February 2009.

The announcement comes on the heels of an attempt by TV bosses to keep costs down by axing actors Sydney Tamila Poitier and Bruce Davison.

The series was picked up for a full season in October.

Hasselhoff is replaced by actor Justin Bruening in the remake.

The film, which had its world premiere at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, is an intense Southern drama about a mother (Spacek) and son (Garity) who reunite under desperate circumstances; years after a family tragedy drove them apart. Once together, they are forced to sort out their past and escape a dangerous situation in the present.

A trailer for the movie Fanboys is out. The movie and trailer features a cameo with Ray Park (Toad)

Rob Zombie to Direct Halloween Sequel?

From: ReelzChannel

Right when Rob Zombie was trying to get out, they pull him back in. Possibly.

Last September, Zombie told Entertainment Weekly that he was not going to be involved with any Halloween sequels. Instead, Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury were supposed to direct the sequel, but, like the Hellraiser remake the French duo dropped out of, they dropped out of Halloween in November as well, opening the director's chair for anyone who wanted it.

Now, according to ShockTilYouDrop, it appears as though Zombie will return to direct Tyler Mane as Michael Myers in the sequel. The move would end a director search and put the film back on track to start shooting in March. Zombie was working on his Tyrannosaurus Rex movie, which would be made after the Halloween sequel, though Zombie has yet to confirm or deny the rumor.

A bigger question is, should they make a sequel at all? Tell us what you think!

HBO Announces True Blood Season 1 DVD

From: ShockTillYouDrop.com

HBO has unveiled its DVD plans for the surprisingly good series True Blood. The entire first season, which recently wrapped until season two kicks off next summer, will street on May 12th. Expect a widescreen (16:9) transfer with Dolby Surround Stereo sound. All twelve episodes will be collected on five discs. Currently, HBO's shop has it listed with a price tag of $59.99.

Starring Anna Paquin, the series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people's minds, and how her life is turned upside down when the vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) walks into her place of employment two years after vampires "came out of the coffin" on national television.

ITV previews new Prisoner series, Primeval, Law & Order London

From: ComicM!x.
by Glenn Hauman

Britian's ITV has a showreel for their upcoming season, with new content of interest for fans:
  • The first video clips I've seen for the remake of The Prisoner, starring James Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ) as Number Six and Ian McKellen (X-Men, Lord Of The Rings) as Number Two. You can read more at AMC's Prisoner production blog, with many entries by Sir Ian himself.
  • Law & Order: London, starring Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) in the traditional younger detective role and Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who, Torchwood, Survivors) in the traditional female DA role. Character names? It's Law & Order, you know the roles. Although seeing DAs in wigs is a bit weird. At least they kept the "da-dum" sound.
  • Clips for season 3 of Primeval.
  • A new series called Whitechapel that, as far as I can tell, has nothing to do with Warren Ellis. Unless he's trying to recreate the Jack the Ripper killings for fun and profit. Which, come to think of it, Warren might do.

And for the obligatory comics connection, they keep using the soundtrack for The Dark Knight over clips. You'd think that soundtrack won an Oscar or someth-- oops, sorry. Sore subject?

Vinnie Jones in bar brawl over his role in X-Men

From: Yahoo News.

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota (AFP) – Former footballer turned tough-guy actor Vinnie Jones got involved in a bar brawl over his role in the film X-Men which ended up with him being arrested, police and witnesses said.

Witnesses said the fight began on Friday when Jones tried to join a game of pool in the small town of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Jones took offence when one of the men identified him as the character Juggernaut from "X-Men: The Last Stand" -- which he apparently took as a slight against his more significant acting roles.

"He started pushing my other friends around," said Juan Barrera, 24, who sat nearby while his friends played pool.

"He said he's been in so many other movies."

Police said Jones charged at one of the men, 24-year-old Jesse Bickett, who then hit Jones in the face with a beer glass.

His face bloodied, Jones was heading to the bathroom to clean up when he saw Barrera and punched him in the face, Barrera told AFP.

Barrera said he hit Jones once or twice in the face before bar staff kicked him out.

Jones was treated for facial injuries at a local hospital where was arrested for misdemeanour assault early on Friday morning, police said.

Formal charges have not been filed, and no court date has been set.

Police charged Bickett with felony aggravated assault, but his mother claimed he had acted in self-defence.

After a career playing football for Wimbledon in which he developed a "hard man" reputation, Jones made his debut as an actor in the 1998 film "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels." His other film credits include "Snatch" and "Gone in Sixty Seconds."

Jones' manager said he was on holiday in South Dakota but refused to comment on the brawl.

Jackman's Son Cut Out Of Australia

From: IMDB.com

Hugh Jackman's adopted son Oscar's big film debut has been left on the cutting room floor.

The movie star admits he "gave in" to the eight year old's demands to be a part of dad's new movie Australia, but his scenes have been cut.

Jackman says, "I finally relented and I said, 'Alright mate, you can be in the movie,' and there's this one scene that he's in that took four days to shoot... and he got paid for it.

"I saw the film for the first time not long ago (and) he's not even in it. He got cut.

"There's a huge wide shot and I'm all prepared (to say), 'Oh, there you are! Aw, baby, you were great."

Jackman is convinced his son will never want to act in another movie: "After four days, he came up to me and goes, 'Dad, you have the most boring job in the world. I never wanna do it again.'"

Lauren Shuler Donner Ready to Begin 'Magneto'

From: ComicM!x

Donner and David Goyer Hope to Shoot in 2009.

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner told Indie London that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is “very good. I’m very pleased with it. It’s very much an origins story. It’s very much in the tone of the first X-Men.”

As for the next Origins project, she said, “We have a great script on Magneto. I’ll tell you the honest truth… I’ve made four movies this year and I was so busy that I didn’t at all talk to the studio while making Magneto because I couldn’t have done it. And David Goyer, who wrote and is going to direct it, also did another movie. So now, he’s done with his and I’m done with two of mine, so when I get back that’s my first order of business to say: ‘Come on, let’s go and make Magneto'.”

Wolverine 2 Plans And Hugh Jackman In X-Men: First Class!

From: CinemaBlend.com

Hugh Jackman has already talked about his willingness to keep playing the character of Wolverine as long as fans want him, but until now there’s been no talk of actually turning his upcoming Wolvy solo movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine into a full-fledged, Wolverine based franchise. Tonight though I talked a bit with one of Cinema Blend’s most reliable, proven scoopers who had tons of information for us on what Fox may be planning for Wolverine’s future.

According to our source, Fox isn’t waiting around to see how the solo movie performs. They’re already in talks to make multiple Wolverine sequels happen, and they’re tossing around story ideas for the almost inevitable Wolverine 2. Word is that the character they’re hoping to use as the villain of Wolverine 2 is someone named Cyber. In the X-Men universe, he’s sort of like Wolverine’s equal and opposite. Like Wolverine he’s Canadian and possesses most of the same powers as Wolverine. He has an Adamantium skin, claws, mutant healing ability, and so on. The villain of the first movie, Liev Schreiber, may also be back for the sequel as Sabretooth; but if they’re bringing in Cyber then he obviously won’t be the only villain.

But wait, there’s more! Two weeks ago Fox announced they’d be launching a new X-Men related movie franchise based on Mutant students and Professor Xavier’s school. They’re calling it X-Men: First Class and it will push a fresh group of young mutant characters. To get them off on the right foot, our source says Fox plans to have Hugh Jackman show up in the film with some sort of Wolverine cameo. Makes sense. Hugh seems willing to play Wolverine wherever and whenever anyone wants him, and if you’re Fox what better way to launch a new mutant franchise then with the help of your most popular mutant X-Men character.

It’s still very early and things can change, but this comes from an inside source who has already given us tons of proven information. It’s a safe bet that at the least, this is the direction Fox is headed with the franchise. We’ll let you more as it develops.

Sideshow Releases New Marvel Whores Statue Line

From: Topless Robot.

This Sideshow comiquette is ostensibly of the X-Men's Jean Grey, during one of the 35 million times she turned evil, and joining the Hellfire Club as the Black Queen. But really, it's just a statue of of a hot woman in a corset holding a whip, so I hope the people who buy feel the shame of owning a statue of a lingerie-wearing harlot, and aren't convincing themselves it's okay because it's of a Marvel supersluthero.

Disagree? Think about it this way: Unless you hold onto the package, I don't think you could convince any non-comic fan that you don't just own a statue of a whore--there's no X-Men logo, no Hellfire Club base, hell, it doesn't even say "Jean Grey" anywhere. Say what you want about the White Queen, but at least she occasionally wears a cape, which implies something comic book-y going on besides mere sluttery.
