According to Variety Oceans Eleven director Steven Soderbergh is plotting a 3-D live-action rock ’n’ roll musical about Cleopatra. He is looking at Catherine Zeta-Jones to play the Egyptian queen and Hugh Jackman to play her lover, Marc Antony.
The film will apparently be shopped around to studios next week, in the hope that one will take up the job of producing the $30 million budget and distributing it. Catherine Zeta-Jones won an Oscar for her role in musical Chicago back in 2002, and when Hugh Jackman isn’t hacking and slashing away as Wolverine he can be seen on Broadway dancing in tight pants, as the video below will demonstrate.
I've been thinking a lot about maturity this week. It's commonly asserted that we nerds lack it because we focus so much on playing games, reading stories with pictures, and debating who would win in a fight, Batman or Wolverine. (Wolverine.) Of course, with half of the civilized world coming out of the closet and owning up to their love of Star Wars, Dungeons and Dragons, and the Avengers, it's difficult to make that assertion. Are you actually going to accuse some high powered lawyer or CEO of being immature if he's really into the Green Lantern?
