Danny Huston is joining the cast of Universal and Imagine's Robin Hood, which Ridley Scott is now directing in England, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Russell Crowe plays the legendary folk hero in the latest retelling of the Robin Hood myth written by Ethan Reiff & Cyrus Voris and Brian Helgeland. Imagine's Brian Grazer is producing along with Scott and Crowe.

Huston will step into the shoes of the historical figure King Richard, who became known as Richard the Lionheart because of his exploits in the Third Crusade.

Huston starred in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and has both Edge of Darkness and Clash of the Titans coming up.

When Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner teamed up for “The Bodyguard” last decade, it was a massive hit among theatergoers. And now Miley Cyrus and Hugh Jackman are looking to try their hands at a new version of the story.
According to industry insiders, the “Hannah Montana” cutie and the People Magazine Sexiest Man Alive will collaborate on a movie musical called “Personal Security.”
In the film, Hugh will play a “tough New York police detective forced into bodyguard duty for a spoiled teen heiress who has received a kidnap threat.”
Adding legitimacy to the rumors, Cyrus and Jackman were recently spotted meeting up with movie executives at Morton’s Steakhouse in Los Angeles to discuss details.

TORONTO - The "X-Men"'s Shawn Ashmore will star in the TV adaptation of the acclaimed book, "Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures."

Producers say Ashmore will portray Fitz, a troubled air-ambulance doctor with a lust for life and alcohol.

The eight-part, hour-long series follows the lives of three doctors as they navigate medical school, residency and their first years working in a busy Toronto hospital.

It's based on Vincent Lam's short story collection "Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures," which won the Scotiabank Giller Prize in 2006.

The series debuts on Movie Central and The Movie Network early next year.

Filming began June 29 and runs until Sept. 23, in and around Toronto and Hamilton.

Mayko Nguyen of "ReGenesis" plays Fitz's love interest, Ming, while Byron Mann of "Dark Angel" plays Ming's husband, Chen.

The 29-year-old Ashmore, from Richmond, B.C., played the frosty Bobby Drake on "X-Men" and Terry Fox in the made-for-TV movie, "Terry."

He also serves as an executive producer on "Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures."

Lam serves as a creative consultant on the series.

Hugh Jackman: Avon Lady?

From: fandango.com
Written by: Erik Davis

When you think of Hugh Jackman, you think tough, handsome, and rugged – the kind of guy you'd expect to play Wolverine in the X-Men films or an Australian cowboy in the film Australia. One role you probably never expected to see Hugh Jackman in is as an Avon salesman, which is a job that's usually held by women because, well, they're selling make-up and most men don't wear make-up. (Not that there's anything wrong with wearing make-up if you're a guy … but, um, okay, I'll just shut up now.)

Variety tells us that 20th Century Fox has acquired a comedy pitch from Kevin Bisch (Hitch) called Avon Man as a potential starring vehicle for Hugh Jackman. The film, which sort of sounds like America's version of The Full Monty, tells of a group of laid off men from a car dealership who venture into the Avon world in order to help their financially strapped families. Jackman would play the leader of the group; the guy who convinces everyone else to join in an attempt to win a regional contest.

Sounds like a fairly harmless comedy, and we all love watching a group of strong men getting in touch with their female sides for a change. What do you think of the idea, and who should join Jackman in the cast?

CraveOnline: Do they give you a place to start or do you have to wait to find out where you pick up?

Zak Penn: We are learning it as we go and it’s pretty complicated. I have a meeting at Marvel this week to catch up on continuity. There’s just a board that tracks “Here’s where everything that happens in this movie overlaps with that movie.” It’s just what they do in the comic books. Think how complicated it is when you’ve got all the titles those companies do. Someone’s got to keep track of all that. What’s Wolverine wearing this week? Are his claws bone or [adamantium]? Yeah, it’s going to be really difficult. The only thing I can say is I’m pushing them to do as many animatics as possible to animate the movie, to draw boards so that we’re all working off the same visual ideas. But the exigencies of production take first priority.

CraveOnline: Should Wolverine have been R?

Zak Penn: That was our frustration. He’s got razor sharp claws and you can’t show blood. So what does he do? In every scene, he’s running around blocking, hitting you with the claws and not cutting you. Where do you go with that? There’s no way to do it.

Empire chatted with Ryan Reynolds and asked him an interesting question about the upcoming "X-Men" spin-off, Deadpool, in which he'll reprise his role from the "Wolverine" movie.

Reynolds says Deadpool will breach the fourth wall: "Break the fourth wall? Oh yeah, he's got to. I want to see him break the Great Wall"... "The studio's working on a script and trying to find a director. The main goal is to make sure it stays close to the source material."

A release date has not yet been set for the film.
